River Range Homestead
150 Acre Farm Along the Burnette River Bordering Two National Parks
River Range Homestead is an enchanting 150-acre property along 2.5 kilometres of the Burnett River, with the Goodnight State and National Parks bordering it on either side.
The homestead is dotted with beautiful and ancient Boab trees, and it's a fully working farm that adequately provides for our cattle, horses, goats, pigs, ducks, dogs (and one cat).
Wildlife abounds here—wild peacocks roam everywhere around us, along with kangaroos and wallabies. There are also nesting eagles in these parts; hawks are often seen circling overhead; echidnas can be found in the woods surrounding the homestead, and there are goannas galore!
Don't forget about the bustards—rare birds that often come to feed at sunrise near our orchard! The Burnett River is full of barramundi (a large freshwater fish), bass, perch and Tampa (freshwater bream).
This picturesque farm is managed carefully year-round to provide an abundance of pasture for our animals. It's an ideal environment to produce delicious pasture-to-plate produce, free of mass production and chemical intervention.
About Us
We're starting to consider ourselves as quite ancient, but we've lived full lives, rich with experiences on the land and in life in general. We've spent much of our time living in the country and raising animals, caring deeply about nature and our environment. This passion and respect for the land have led us to pursue eco-sensitive practices for River Range Homestead property maintenance and animal husbandry.
We also proudly use natural horsemanship techniques when training our young horses, riding stock and stallions, and providing our natural handling services to help others with problem horses. See our services page for more information.
We've been breeding and riding horses using natural techniques for more than 40 years. We strongly believe horses respond best to soft and supple handling, learning to move away from pressure and into comfort. All of our horses are raised using these techniques, and they become calm, confident and happy riding horses.
